The Key to Survival is Early Detection Take the Komen 125 Challenge!
What is the Komen 125 Challenge? By raising or donating an additional $125 on top of your entry fee, YOU can fund a lifesaving mammogram.
The average cost of a mammogram is $125. If each Komen Race for the Cure participant took the challenge to raise an additional $125 in sponsorships for their run/walk, we could provide at least 7000 free mammograms to underserved FresnoCounty women.
Take the Komen 125 Challenge—it’s easy! Here’s what to do:
Just Ask your friends and family to donate to your fundraising efforts. You would be amazed by what you can get for simply sharing what you are doing. Tell them that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Tell them that a mammogram is the best way to catch it early enough to make a difference.
The $125 box must be checked on donation form
All race participants who take on and achieve the Komen 125 Challenge will get a button to wear proudly stating you funded a mammogram and saved a life.

Environmental factors and breast cancer science review
Komen for the Cure wanted to understand the relationship between environmental factors and breast cancer, and where additional research or improved research methods are needed.
We commissioned and funded a comprehensive state-of-the-science review of scientific research on environmental factors that may increase breast cancer risk. The review was led by the Silent Spring Institute, who along with other researchers created a unique, searchable online database. This database features detailed information on over 200 chemicals that cause breast cancer in animals. Learn more about the study / access the Silent Spring findings and free online database

September 11th The Day the Earth Stood Still
This is a tribute to the men and women whose live were taken because of a few men that feel they can change the world with hate, violence and chaos. In many ways the world did change, for now we lack trust and unity, we seize and search whatever and whomever we do not understand. We look at our option for war before we can see the possibilities for understanding or diplomacy.
We can never forget that day when ever one stood still and watched and even our Mother Earth seemed to stop turning that day. We can never forget the people who had no idea of what was about to happen. We must never forget those who tried to defend, help, rescue and lend a helping hand to those in need. And we must never forget all those who run toward the horns of the beast instead of away from it.
If we do not forget September 11th, then history will not forget and we must not forget if there ever is going to be understanding and peace. On that day my heart had no emotion, but every year after that, my heart is sad that we as human beings can do this to one another.
So, my family and the family of man asks the Great Creator to Bless us all in both the seen and unseen worlds, all creatures form the microscopic to the largest in the world, but most of all the two legged, for we still need the Creator's Blessing the most.
God Bless America and our Mother Earth

"We Are All Sacred"
Artist Frank La Pena Honoring the First Californians California is one of the richest states in the nation because of the culture, heritage and history of its many federally recognized tribes. From the Kumeyaay in San Diego to the Serrano in San Bernardino to the Yurok in the KlamathBasin, the indigenous people of California each have a diverse and peaceful existence that has lasted for many thousands of years. Today there are more than 100 recognized tribes in California and more than any other state in the nation. An acknowledgment of the California Indians came in 1968 when Governor Ronald Reagan signed a resolution calling for the fourth Friday of each September to be American Indian Day. It was hoped that this acknowledgment would help to inform the general public about Indian heritage and the problems that are confronted by Indians in California. For years, the California tribes celebrated the fourth Friday of September by renewing their ties to the Earth and keeping alive the ways of their ancestors. It was in 1998 when the California Legislature passed Assembly Bill No. 1953 (Baca), establishing the day as an official state holiday. Today, people of all ages celebrate California Native American Day by learning more about the culture, heritage and traditions of the California Indian.http://www.nativeamericanday.com/

As part of the program, attendees had the opportunity to complete a written questionnaire evaluating their alcohol use and talk privately with a health professional about their results and next steps.
